Lives of Generosity: Meet Jacki

Jacki grew up in a middle class family in British Columbia. As a child she watched her mother do lots of volunteer work but did not really think that much about what philanthropy meant to her. After business school, she joined Goldman Sachs where Jacki became the youngest woman and first female trader to be made a partner. With this responsibility came financial rewards. She and her husband immediately set up a family foundation but it took a while before her giving became more than just writing a few checks.

At first, she found philanthropy. Then she found generosity.

I am trying to live the most generous life I can. Yes I write some checks but I also give of my time and talents,” she says. “Generosity has become a practice that is not only about actions, but it is about attitude and intent.”
